Sundown at Great Indian Desert

Updated: Nov 8, 2020

Get a bird’s-eye view on the Jaisalmer horizon from a small sand hill of Thar

As the sun transforms itself from a bright harsh ball of fire to a soothing golden, the redness starts filling up the sky and the city below also gets painted in gold.

Thar - The Great Indian Desert

Thar is derived from the local word, ‘thul’, means ‘sand.’

A trip in the desert does not mean that it has to be bereft of activities. There is a lot one can do to make the most of the trips like Luxury camping, Desert safari, Parasailing, visit Desert natural park & Rann of Kutch & other sanctuary.

Sam Sand Dunes

Being in the city of shifting sand dunes, you can’t escape the saddle journey. A bumpy ride on a camel in the Thar Desert is one of the exciting things to do in Jaisalmer. It allows you to explore the remote and isolated places tucked in the midst of the desert. Certainly, the more time you devote on your safari, the more remote places you are likely to see and the more you may adjust to and enjoy the desert tranquility.

I spent two days and one night sleeping in the camps at sand dunes under the stars on my camel safari.

Things to do at Thar desert -
  • Staying overnight in desert camps.
